Good enough player. Would fight for, but not be guaranteed a place in the Armagh team.

Not a bad player but maybe a bit inconsistent. His Dad was a good 'un.

Re: Billy Joe Padden
recruiting Mayo men, are we really that bad that we have to sink to these depths? On the plus side at least it isnt that clown Conor Mortimor

Re: Billy Joe Padden
He'll possibly be eyeing up a position on the half forward line, He'd have more to offer than say Malachy Mackin or Michael O'Rourke -Would he not be quite a similar player to Tir Na N'Ogs Brian Mallon anyway?

Mortimer is considering long overdue knee surgery which would probably mean no football this season. He would miss both of Mayo's Championship games ....

Re: Billy Joe Padden
Mayo do have some decent players its just that they dont have a decent team Samin12.
We can't do much worse in the HF line. Not to sound harsh on Makin but I truly hope he dosen't get a starting place on Armagh team next season, as the game progresses he gets tired and makes silly mistakes and is better suited to the role as an impact substitue.

would agree about Mackin although big things are expected of Michael O'Rourke (have not seen enough of him to pass judgement), Brian Mallon has done very little since his 2005. I would say with a fit forward line it will be Jamie Clarke, Ronan and stevie in full forward line (i hope anyway, i think there would be few better full forward lines in ireland), i think Gareth Swift should hold onto his place in the half forwards but after that there is probably about 8 players with a realistic chance of getting one of the two free spots in half forward line. Looking forward to McKenna cup and league to see how these other players perform

He s a class act. By adding any mayo man to the team, armagh's performances will immediately improve by 15 to 20%.
I heard a rumour that The Mort plans to throw his lot in with the dubs in 2012. BB's place could be under threat

Cant see him adding anything to Armagh to be honest, anybody who cannot nail down a place in a Mayo side will hardly feature for a top 20 side like Armagh. Although he obviously knows Mayo are going nowhere fast and decided to move to give hmself a chance of winning something

Well on footballing terms alone there is no doubt that he would walk straight into the armagh team. However, armagh are renowned for their underhand tactics, off-the-ball hits and general filth. In fairness to billy, he will not stoop to these tactics, he s just not like that despite being well able to mix it physically. For this reason maybe he will not fit in with armagh's "style" but if they have any sense they will make use of his superior football skills, it's not as if they are overloaded with footballers
