Re: New Years
Haven't gone out for New Years Eve in about ten years
Too much hassle to get taxis
Too much hassle to get a babysitter
You get "restricted over priced" menus where the food has been pre-cooked
Overcrowded pubs
Normal New years day is a last day before returning to a workload of all the stuff long-fingered before XMAS so its depressing enough without having a hangover

Biggest anti climax of a night that you will come across, will probably tip down to one of the locals for a few handy ones.....New Years Day is a great day for the all day session though, do a bit of an east clare tour

Ya, have to agree with you regarding New Years Day. I always have a right good drink, to start the year as I mean to go on.
The night before is over-rated, too many people shaking hands with me or giving me a peck on the cheek, most of the same people are barely civil to me for the rest of the year.
The Godfather is on RTE 2 on New Years Eve so I will ring in the new year watching it and head out the following morning fresh for a good session.
