RESPECT
Folks - the general raison d'etre for this site is GAA chat and crack and the underlying and overlying theme is RESPECT! A lot of posters here are familiar with other sites and are keen GAA fans as well as fans of other sports - the internet is infinite - and can accommodate all. But this site will not indulge personal insults.
There will be banter and slagging, sledging and winding up - but not of a personal nature. Most of you are adults and it is presumed you will have the decency and cop to respect this. There are some fantastic posters here - with a great knowledge of our games and as fair minded as can be.
That said some of the recent posts are disappointing.
If any of you have an issue with any post then PM a moderator and the complaint will be dealt with and you will receive a reply on your PM. There are no favoured posters here - if you break the rules there will be a sanction.
We are in the business end of the Championships now. Lets concentrate on what happens on the field. By all means let your feelings known ... in a decent manner.
This is a top quality site and will remain that way - you are the reason for that. Think respect and fair play ... the way it should be!

Re: RESPECT
I thought this was named after the movement in the premiership, where all the managers come on and call referees all sorts of grave insults.
I was about to start insulting..............

Re: RESPECT
Jayo thanks for that post. I was getting a bit weary at times over the past few months of some posts which were not craic but insulting to other posters. We will leave that to other sites. This site may not be great in volume by comparison but content is the most important issue.I have learned over the years that you can have a joke and a bit of fun and banter at others expense and take it also but never try and degrade or insult thy fellow man(or woman).Lets have debate but skip the insults of people or counties. We are unique in our sports that we can sit next to an opposing supporter and cheer our team but have respect for the fan in the next seat.

Re: RESPECT
I noticed this year in particular the booing of free takers. I'd hate to see this creep into the GAA.

I noticed this year players putting off the free taker, including John Doyle from Meath who should know better.
Running straight across the taker's line of vision as he was kicking the ball.........otherwise Derry would be in the semi.

Re: RESPECT
I can't stand booing at a free taker but I love it when the Hill does it and the freetaker plants it straight between the posts. Its the only answer. A good freetaker will not hear 'distractions'. I would feel that the eerie silence (ie Thomond Park) is more distracting. But my kids will never boo a freetaker in Croker (not when I'm with them anyway!). I hate to see young kids boo while their parents sit beside them either joining in or saying nothing ...
ps Mind you this thread is about repect on this site ... and nothing to do with soccerball respect ... or God forbidforeplay .. I mean fair play ...

You're being set up. I wouldn't take that if I was you.
