Connacht football - is there any point?

Time was when you had a half decent C'ship with two adequate teams. No longer. Mayo are about as talented as a herd of buffalo and Galway are a bit like their fans - do all the talking but none of the performing! Should have been beaten by NY already. Indeed how are London and NY expected to improve when they are playing against dross?
So now you have a mediocre competition with the lightweights overtaking the super powers ( ) - truly awful football, terrible marksmanship and no heart. Maybe they should do what the hurling people did and dump Galway - and maybe Leitrim into Leinster. Throw the other 3 into wherever will have them. Its just not fair to ask people to pay into what has become a sham championship which has brought nothing to the table in terms of the latter stages for years now ... except humiliating defeats. There is no real history and definitely no tradition attached to the Connacht c'ship - time to call it a day.

After all the stuff I've read about Leinster football here it's hard not to indulge in some Schadenfreude... but I won't.

In my brilliant opinion - provincials to be done away with, kinda!
We have roughly 32-34 counties competing every year (incl. Kilkenny). Divide them into 4 groups of 8 and play away as normal from there. Take the likes of Cavan or someone close to Connacht and stick them in there. And give them Westmeath or whoever else is close to make it an 8 team province. Give Munster the likes of Wexford and Offaly etc.
Not sure an open draw would work. Can't see people travelling the length and breadth of the country if for example Donegal drew Waterford or Kerry v Antrim (no jokes regarding Kerry fans not travelling please).
Sorry for the serious reply to your facetious thread Jayo!

After watching Galway go out today I do think that Connacht is a province that is suffering. The time for provincial titles will come to an end and instead introduce a North, East, South and West division type thing. I would like a table type of format with the top 4 of each division going through that way a teams progression isn't based on a single decision like Galway's fate today.
