What a performance over the weekend by young Rory, and him not 21 until later this week. Completely ripped one of the toughest courses in the world to pieces, and was 9 under par for the last 12 holes.

Sunday's performance was as awesome a round of golf as I have ever seen, and this must now be the springboard for true greatness. Broke all sorts of records over the weekend, but perhaps the most interesting fact was that the only other 20 year olds to have won on the US Tour are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson & Seve Ballesterous - illustrious company indeed.

And to think that a certain Meath poster told us last summer that he was the most over-rated golfer on the planet! Shame on you Loyal....

He has a great talent if he can hold it together. He is a great man for 7 birdies and 4 bogies in a round.

This win should relax him and enable him to fulfil his promise. that young Italian looks to be the real thing as well.

Great times ahead for Irish golf indeed. Rory will be a superstar and the Maguire twins could make a huge impact on the ladies!

Firmly Cavan lassies!! I know their mothers side of the family all west Cavan people. And I'm almost sure they go to Loretto college in Cavan. The Slieve Russel is their golfing home course too. They make frequent appearances in the Celt so it looks like we're claiming them either way! cheers

Yes, very much so, although that will change as he becomes a bit more mature with his shot selection, and also plays these courses more often. He'll make less birdies and eagles, but will cut out a lot of the bogeys too. Mickelson was a lot like that 6-7 years ago, but he reined in his aggressive tendencies (a little) and started winning majors once he did.
