St. Patricks Day - Don't make me laugh! Empty St. Patricks Day - Don't make me laugh!

How many of the people that go off on drinking binges today "to celebrate their Irishness and the being of St. Patrick" actually go to Mass every Sunday - which is what St. Patrick is all about? I'd estimate about maybe 10%. Today is not really about what it was designed to be about. I find it laughable every time March 17th comes around - people celebrating and they not having a clue what they are celebrating. Complete hyprocrisy.

The whole drinking culture on St. Patricks Day actually is as a result of the Romans. March 17th is also Bacchus (the Roman god of wine) Day. That is where the tradition of drinking on March 17th comes from. Again hyprocrisy. People out having a great time thinking they are following on from an Irish/Catholic tradition when in fact it is a completely PAGAN thing they are celebrating.

So please people get a grip. If you want to celebrate St. Patrick, then get up and go to Mass. If you don't want to celebrate him then go and fill every pub in Ireland up and go on a mad drinking session.

Lastly answer me this my forum friends, have you gone to the pub today? And if so, why? Do you feel a bit of an idiot now knowing what I'm just after telling you.

Ironic isn't it, people trying to celebrate their Irishness by carrying out a PAGAN tradition!

I wonder when St. Patrick landed on the shores of Wexford all those years ago did he think that this was how his legacy would live on?

I couldnt agree with ya more loyal. I saw a young one drunk and totally out of it today at half three in the afternoon. Twas absolutly hideous to say the least-and this is how they celebrate the feast day of a holy man? St.Patricks day is no longer a feast day to celebrate the life and legacy of a wonderful saint, it's now just an excuse for a alcohol binge-disgusting Evil or Very Mad
