Things you love and things you hate
About the GAA.
1. I love the anticipation of matches no matter how compettitve
2. I love being able to talk to other GAA fans at matches as long as they are not obnoxious.
3. I use to love the long summers But I know they will be back
1. I hate the inconsistent refereeing
2. The way the GAA mess around with the rules
3. Being cheated out of wins

About Mayo:
I love:
1. The community and county spirit coming up to the connacht final(provided mayo are in it) and other major championship matches.
2. The 'come on Mayo' ya get shouted at ya walking up shop street proudly wearing the mayo jersey the saturday before the connacht final.
3. The fact that every, and i mean every mayo fan always had and always will have an undying faith in the mayo team, and even of they did bad the year before, you truly believe they have a real chance of winning the sam maguire!
4. The trip to supermacs in ballinrobe after the connacht final in castlebar.
I dislike:
1. Losing matches, especially to Kerry
2. Not being able to get a ticket to big matches like the all-ireland semi-final or final, when other feckers who dont know the mayo colours get tickets to go whilst you're desperatly ringing up 'UP FOR THE MATCH' the night before trying to win yourself a ticket, but knowing that some lucky fecker in somewhere like kilkenny will win those bloody tickets
3. to be honest i've run out of dislikes but i have alot about the gaa in general

I love:
Mayo.
Mayo People
Mayo News (the paper)
The way us Mayo people view ourselves as one big family and talk to each other like best friends even though we might be talking to someone we never met before.
Croagh Patrick.
The way I show off my Mayo accent.
Wearing the Mayo jersey.
McHale Park on match day.
Croke Park on match day.
Singing Amhrann na bhFiann.
The way we wave to everybody we meet even when we're in a car.
The Mayo team.
Knock.
The way that everywhere in Mayo seems like home.
I dislike:
Nothing. Life is good when you're from Mayo.

I love
1. I love the noise in Croke Park

3. The banter between the fans
4. Wearing the Derry jersey on the way home from Croker through Dungannon etc if Tyrone get beat and Derry win!
5. Bunting and Colours around the town
6. The pictures in the Irish news of people painting sheep/cars/houses etc and witty slogans coming up to championship time
7. Quinns before the match
8. Michael Lister (Boy who presents Sunday Game)
Don't like
1. The way people claim Kerry win the All Ireland every April before a ball has been kicked.
2. The way people say League means nothing
3. Pat Spillane/Martin Mc Hugh
4. Arrogant Kerry people
5. Losing...

Re: Things you love and things you hate
I think Joe Brolly's worse than Colm O'Rourke. He has a certain dislike of Mayo. I think Carney and Morissey are great though.

TV3 did pretty good coverage this year especially when they had David Brady. Peter Canavan is pretty good too.

McHugh is an absolute t*t. My uncle seems to love him though. Not entirely sure why.Niamh_Derry wrote:**Sorry I didn't mean to say Colm O Rourke I meant to say Martin Mc Hugh

I see they are after giving Charlie Redmond a few gigs. Maybe someone could ask him about his antics in the 95 final.

about the GAA:
I LOVE:
1. The leadup to matches
2. The friday before the big match when you're looking forward to the interviews in the saturday newspapers and getting ready on saturday night before the big day
3. Hearing the fans blowing those annoying, yet widely accepted horns going to the match and during the match.
4. The stalls set up on match day selling flags that cost a bomb etc.
5. The near 'heart attack feeling' ya get when a guy ya know who ya havent seen since the year before wacks ya on the back going into the game
6. The abuse hurled at the ref during the match, even though ya know he's right(sometimes)
7. Half time, when ya settle down to a bag of taytos and a cool 7up
8. The player the manager left out of the starting line-up that you know is desperatly needed to win the game.
9. The last few seconds of the game where it feels like an eternity if your team is winning narrowly
10. The moment the referee blows the whistle and the almighty roar ya get from the fans, and the scowls ya here from the opposing fans 'those feckers never win anythin'
11. The roar from the crowd just before the anthem ends
12. The sun burn ya get from the sun while at a match which is a painful reminder if your team lost, but a content endurance if they won
13. Finally, I love the anticipation you have on the car journey home thinking about the next day your team will play and imagining the very possible-winning Sam!

Love:
1. When your team blows away the opposition.
2. Using an air horn at a match.
3. The journey to a match
Hate
1. That song "may we never have to say goodbye" being played after a match because it usually coincides with a loss
2. 3-4 hour drive home after losing an All Ireland final.
3. People who almost crush you in the seat
4. Certain Croke Park stewards

Re: Things you love and things you hate
Niamh you say you like the noise in Croke park - as a Derry fan I presume your talking baout the noise during concerts etc.
As for Tohill being a good analyst i think he spends too much time sitting on the fence.
