What an outstanding racehorse!
Four King Georges, what a year for racing people, we are spoilt sometimes!

Great performance to outdo Desert Orchid. Sami obviously had all his 'begging' money on at 8-13!

Re: Kauto Star
Another sooperb performance from a quality jumper.
Despite the constraints of Mummer activities and the foulest of foul weather, Boxty managed in the course of the day to have a "sneaky €50" win double with himself and Sizing Europe to defray the portering expenses.....

Re: Kauto Star
How old is this racing institution ?
I was terribly impressed with Nicholls on the day of the Gold Cup in March, when some gimp of a reporter quizzed him on the well being of both his big runners and asked him what his hopes were for them.
Nicholls never lost stride in proclaiming what warriors they had both been and dismissed the gimp by saying his hopes were that both would return safely as it was the least they deserved....
Despite having backed some other now forgotten nag, I lustily roared on Kauto and Denman as they made a battle of it to the last....

And that should have been the last race for both of them. 2 great horses, battling it out before being vanquished by the new young champion. That is the way it should have ended. Kauto and Denman have done their bit, and should be allowed to have a well-earned rest now. I just hope he comes back soundly on Saturday. The result is irrelevant really.

Re: Kauto Star
They say that nostalgia isn't what it used to be, but I have my doubts, having watched a seamless performance from this jumping legend....
A daring and driving run, flawless and by times breathtaking jumping and when visibly tiring before the last, went to the well one more time to crush his rivals in some style....
Begrudgingly I'll commend Ruby Walsh for a great ride but the man of the day has to be Paul Nicholls for getting the veteran spot on once again...
A privilege to watch one of jumping legends confirm his status and the 6/1 was a help to boot....
Mossbags, did Diamond Harry run or was he in a different race..

What a horse! Retirement? Kauto will be back for a fifth Betfair Chase.
King George and Gold Cup here we go......
Great to see - really heart warming performance. There's only one Kauto Star!

Great to see, looked like a horse still very much in love with the game. A super super horse, one for the ages

Never seen anything like it - not a word of exaggeration. What a racehorse. Said it before and continue to say it, what a racehorse. Kauto betters himself each time he steps onto a racecourse.

I'd echo OMAR's observation on this one. A magnificent occasion for all the connections and the horse himself.
A great day for his faithful supporters on this forum as well......

Re: Kauto Star
A wonderful performance from a once in a lifetime horse. Countless Group 1 victories, spanning the guts of a decade, and ranging from 2 miles to the extended 3 of the Gold Cup.
Boxing Day was as good as any of them. Trainer and jockey get plenty of deserved credit but, but make no mistake, it is the horse that is the real star here. Magical.

Re: Kauto Star
Slightly off topic but Golden Silver's fall in Big Zeb's race was as bad as I've ever seen. Really shocking and brought home the dangers of National Hunt. Terrible to see the poor animal die that way. Luckily Townend escaped the worst of it.

Re: Kauto Star
Long Run only barely won yesterday at Ascot. Heard the commentary, the commentator was scrambling to assemble a few words with regard to his defeat before his stable companion relented and let him win.*
Wham Wailey Moan then squaked out a few words, great to get the run etc., blah blah but the omens wouldn't appear good for LR.
*This is Boxty's understanding of events in any case..

I still fancy Long Run. Can't see him being beat on the 16th March. Though not convinced of Sam Waley Cohen.
