Yeah Boxty - Shane Lowry's performance must rate as best individual one domestically.

Best Irish individual performance internationally: Im pretty sure you mean team performance in which case the connections of STS are the easy winners in this category, take your pick from Epsom, Sandown, Longschamp, York etc

Correct. The Irish Champion Stakes was rated 140, only Mill Reef and Brigadier Gerard have achieved higher ratings since 1970.

Very early 70's Loyal....Dick Hearne the trainer ???
A quality animal...On an aside call....a pal of mine phoned the local Post Office (we had no phone) tipping an horse called "John Splendid" to win the Ayr Gold Cup around the months of Aug/Sept 1969/70 at a cracker price.
I mind it well, John Dunlop the trainer and Ron Hutchinson aboard.....a very merry evening entailed..
