Sibling Rivalry
At the weekend there our club were in an u-21 final against a neighbouring club. Our captain lined out at centre back. His younger brother lined out at corner back, for the other team. I have never seen this before in my life time. Any other clubs have situations like this around the country?
My uncles played with differen neighbouring clubs when they were young in donegal.

Re: Sibling Rivalry
I played against my brother in an Intermediate Championship final years ago, thankfully my side won and we got a good few slaps at each other!

Re: Sibling Rivalry
cant say i know of any brothers/sisters who have played against each other - mind you with the amount of teenage pregnancies and young dolls running about with several waynes all to different fathers there are probably loads of half sisters and brothers playing on the same teams and they don't even know it

Re: Sibling Rivalry
I played against my second cousin in an u13 challenge match once.
Half the family were cheering me, the other half were cheering him. Talk about divided loyalties....

Re: Sibling Rivalry
Two brothers in Meath lined out against each other last year - I think it was the county final - though not the Senior one. Loyal might fill us in - one of them was David I think!

Re: Sibling Rivalry
2 O'Shea brothers played agaist each other in the Laois senior semi-final this year between Arles/Killeen and Arles/Kilcruise.
The photo of them shaking hands in the aftermath smacked more of sibling hatred than brotherly love. Twas on some paper...

Johnnos - am absolutely positive about this and read some article in one of the Sundays about it no more than a year ago. I'm fairly sure it was in Meath and think it was a junior or Intermediate final but I have googled and got nothing!
Maybe the Loyal one can help but I will make more enquiries too!

Re: Sibling Rivalry
Paul Grimley left Armagh Harps in the early 80's to join Pearse Ogs, he went on to play county finals against his brothers the twins Mark and John and his older brother Kieran. Alan and Colm Oneill who both represented Armagh played for Culloville and Crossmaglen and would have played against each other many times.

Johynnos - I believe it was the Coyne brothers. One for Corrtown and one for St Ultans. Maybe Loyal can confirm. Or is he on strike?
