Ah it takes some time to get back in the rhythm of things. Go for aan hour's run every night and you'll be fit in no time-it really worked for me when I started back at training.

personally i have transfered back to my old club after a year playing with St. Marks in dublin, have not actually kicked a ball this year as im training for a marathon in MAY
doing the belfast one so coming close now, have already done a couple of 18's and a 20 have a 22 miler this weekend so god help me
but after that its back on the field and hopefully to a championship, will miss most of the league but not too worried about that as it is all about the championship............

I wish i was able to go back training lads and lassies. Had a fairly decent career as a young lad playing both hurling and football. Years spent with either a hurl or a ball in my hand meant i was a fairly skillful at both codes. When i got to 16 i started a part time job and sport began to take a back seat. Went to uni and had little interest in either sport there either.
left uni and started to get interested again - moreso with the hurling than the football. However i was plagued with injuries - suffered a lot with shin splints and then developed a hamstring problem which was linked to a back injury i got during a hurling match. I stopped playing altogether about 4 years ago was pretty out of shape anyway.
Since ending the playing career i have done quite a bit of coaching started out with youngsters 6-10 yr old. Then got asked to manage some of the ladies teams in the club. have had decent success to date in first year i was assistant manager to u16 team whcih won league the next year i managed the u14 team to league and championship success and last year was assistant manager to minor and senior ladies teams - f**k but they were hard work - no commitment whatsoever. Back to coaching lads this year see how that goes.

played for years until i was 26, was out in a nightclub in Limerick one night. messingt around as you do, met a certain Limerick footballer who i wont name. Know him well. Lovely fella, but doenst know his own strength. We were mess fighting on the floor, as you do when he picked me up, and flung me through the air straight off the DJ box which was shaped like a clam, my head literally split open. was out cold and brought to the A&E
bad concussion and 9 stitches. He never meant it, it was totally accidental but it f**ked me up for a few months. Its been a few years now but never got back into it after that.
