Tadgh Kennelly
So Tadgh Kennelly has got his hands on an All Ireland medal. To listen to some people (not on here i add) you'd think he had some god given right to get it. In my opinion the GAA owes Tadgh f**k all least of all an All-Ireland medal. He pissed of to Oz - which he had every right to do - he made himself a fortune going by the figures he was quoting earlier. Then he decides to come home to chase his dream of winning an All-Ireland medal and suddenly no one deserves it more than he does. On top of that he wasnt in Kerry 10 minutes until he had suddenly found himself a job at a time when everyone else was losing theirs.
Well I'm sorry but there are players more deserving of an All-Ireland medal than Tadgh, the likes of Canty (who would have made it in Oz too had he gone) Ciaran Whelan Ronan Mc Garrity David Heaney and many many more are much more deserving than Kennelly in my view.
Maybe others think differently......................

I agree Boc, I am please for him but there are Thousands of GAA stars over the years who deserve one, a lot more. There is probably a young fella in Kerry who was cut off the panel so Tadgh could get his place on it who wants an All Ireland medal. He'll probably eff off back down under no he has his hands on one.

The GAA for astart owe no one medals on that note I agree but if you have the talent and make the right team your chances of getting one magnify greatly.bocerty wrote:So Tadgh Kennelly has got his hands on an All Ireland medal. Kennally was in the right place at the right time.
As regarding the job I know it may seem harsh and all but maybe he was the best qualified that applied for it so to cast any dispercions that way would be wrong I think.
There will always be players that deserve medals that never get one a prime example from my own county John Conran joined the Wexford senior hurlng panel in 1978 (we had contested the all irelands of 77 and 76 as well as 70 and 68) and hurled until 95 retiring we won Leinster and the all ireland in 96. John hurled for 18 odd years without a championship medal in what you would calla resonably successful county.
Kevin O Brien wicklow footballer.
Frank Mcguigan etc etc etc.
Sport is not about been fair its about winning and winning entails a lot of luck and been in the right place at the right time to either score that point or goal or just as equally to make that block.
so to say he doesn't deserve it is crap he played ( a fairly good game for the 40/45 min he was on ) and he took the opportunity given to him

Re: Tadgh Kennelly
Jim i wasn't saying he didn't deserve it - he put in the same hard slog as the others on the Kerry panel did so he deserved his medal - but to listen to some sections of the media we are almost being led to believe that he had a right to win a medal because he had given up hundreds of thousands of pounds to come home to chase his dream.
Ok he made a big sacrifice - but look at the sacrifice others make by actually staying in this country to play football. At the start of the championship 12 players in the Donegal panel were unemployed - not one of them f**ked off to Oz or USA were they could have got jobs and possibly paid to play football too. Theirs was a bigger sacrifice than Kennellys so perhaps they are more deserving of recognition than Kennelly.
And as far as the job is concerned i'm sure there are any amount of men in Kerry (just like other counties) capable of doing that job - but in an effort to keep him in the country he was given the job - unfair to others in my opinion but thats the way Intercounty players are treated in this day and age - it goes on in every county not just Kerry.
I'm just annoyed at the way he is portrayed as some sort of martyr for coming home when others made a much more difficult choice than he did...........

surprisingly not Clash though no doubt had he went for a job as a sales rep he would have got it. He is a coaching officer with the Kerry County Board/Munster Council
