So how come he doesn't do it every week then? Or better still ... the Euromillions!

Re: Derren Brown
Now this may sound a bit sceptical but I still think you would hammer him in a Gaelic Football Predictions Competition!
And did he do it just before the draw?
And did he do it just before the draw?

Re: Derren Brown
No he had the balls chosen but they were turned not to face the audience, he had a tv and showed bbc1 drawing the numbers, it was live because you coukld flick between bbc1 and channel 4 and the lottery on bbc1 and on his tv set were in sync and when they were all drawn he turned the balls he had drew and then they were the same

Re: Derren Brown
Yeah sounds impressive. But I can put a 20 cent coin in the palm of my left hand, flick my fingers over it and make it disappear up my sleeve!!! Took me a while to perfect it but everyone I show it to are always very impressed.
And whats happening Friday?

Transparent ping pong balls with the numbers projected onto them or else the left hand side of the screen was frozen the whole time.

he fixed it.
you know if he actually can do that why doesn't he buy a ticket, rake in 14million and never have to do any work on channel4 ever again

Re: Derren Brown
Just a quick point.
UK Lottery, much like the Irish one, is not broadcast "live."
There is approx 15 minute delay between filming and broadcast.
The reason for the delay is that the actual drawing of the balls takes approx 5 minutes. The draws are fully supervised by independant auditors (KPMG in Ireland, PwC in UK), and part of the supervisory procedures involve the drum having to spin for a set amount of time between balls. The draw is edited down so it looks like it only takes a minute or so, and is broadcast in it's edited format.
That's also why ticket sales stop approx 30 min before the broadcast.
If the UK Lottery wanted a bit of publicity, they could very easily just have phone Brown with the numbers in the 10 min or so between filming the draw and it's broadcast.

Re: Derren Brown
b&w he wasn't allowed to show the numbers before BBC has done the draw something to do with legalities and the BBC had to show the numbers 1st.

I'm not saying he did or didn't have the correct numbers on there before the BBC broadcast.
What I'm saying is that a certain number of people have access to the Lottery results up to 15 min before the actual BBC broadcast. It would be very easy for him to have a contact there tell him the numbers, and him have them ready before BBC broadcast their "Live" draw.
He could then make his "prediction" before the BBC draw, knowing exactly what the result would be

Re: Derren Brown
The camera was unsteady throughout that broadcast. He didnt predict the balls at all, he is an illusionist afterall.
Notice, if you watched the gathering last night after he predicted the balls he got audience members to throw a stuffed cat around amongst themselves and then he got someone to draw a picture...hmm I wonder what did that person draw a picture of?

Here isn't live. There's a delay of approx 15 minutes between the draw and the broadcast. Draw takes approx 7/8 minutes to complete. It is filmed and then edited down so it only takes a minute or so on the broadcast.
That's also the reason why ticket sales stop about 20 min before the broadcast.

That I did not know.
so you can only buy a ticket up to 7:40 for the draw at 8, another thing I didn't know.
All that is left that I don't know now are the 6 numbers they pull out

One of my housemates was part of the "Lottery Team" at KPMG a year or two back. Had to do Wed or Sat every second week, Winning Streak once a month, and Telly Bingo every three weeks.
He got sent out to Telly Bingo on his first day, sample quote "I didn't know if 'it' was gonna be in a dress or trousers. Thank f*ck it dressed as a man today, I couldn't have coped with a trannie"
