James McInerney!
Just watching the Galway/Clare game on the RTE website and what an outstanding performance by the young Clare FB, Canning has barely touched the ball, Cyril Donnellan and Aonghus Callinan playing best for Galway, Joe not to be seen. Brian Lohan is gone but step forward James McInerney. On the subject of Joe, I agree with Loughnane's column in The Star yesterday, he is suffering from second season syndrome. Two atricious games from Joe in a row after a token 1-4 from play against Laois, wouldn't be surprised if he's dropped now.

Philip Brennan yellow card? WTF?
Joe should have walked, made no attempt to tackle the man, clearly frustrated.

Re: James McInerney!
Brennan shouldered Canning after the whistle had gone and it was a cowardly shoulder into his back.

Don't want to start a thread on this so I'll stick in in Loyal's Clareman tribute thread.
Can anyone tell me - cos RTE or none of the websites are bothered - what the final score of the Munster minor between Clare-Tipp was?

Re: James McInerney!
Canning should have walked. GAA bowing to his greatness. Fair play to McInerney, dominated from start to finish. Second season syndrome for Joe, he was a liability for Galway yesterday. OK he can tap over the frees, 65s, sidelines but he just seems to be a specialist freetaker, bit like in the NFL where you specialist players for different type of plays. Eoin Cadogan will probably put the myth to bed anyway.

Re: James McInerney!
No sign of it - minor football is there - and ladies intermediate - no mention on 6 or 9 news - nothing on county pages of websites - nada - nothing. No wonder all the young lads are going to Oz .........

Waterford definitely won it, sure they beat Clare in the semi-finals of it so Clare couldn't have been in the final. Major **** up by Sami, void all them predictions I say.

Re: James McInerney!
I have finally established that Waterford - not Clare - beat Tipperary by 18 points to 1-13 in the Munster minor final - not a match report or anything just one line in about six pages of results in the Indo!

Re: James McInerney!
Yeah it was between Wateford and Tipp and it said on the Sunday game last sunday it said it was the first time in 30 years or whatever that both senior and minor teams were playing munster final day.
It doesn't matter if McInerney fouled Canning all day what matters is Galway won and Clare are in a relegation battle and division 2 and haven't won a game all year. Galway are still on track for a first All Ireland in 21 years.

Yeah Clash, its all academic at this stage.
I was just saying though that McInerney marked Canning out of it.

I don't think Cadogan will have the same amount of luck as McInerney.

Whats the story there, Antrim can be relegated but they are allowed to play in Leinster next year but not allowed to play in the qualifiers and progress any further than the Leinster final. Weren't Westmeath hurlers in the same situation a few years ago.
