Re: Election 2011
FG I reckon, although the choice is pretty poor. FF need sometime on the sidelines and the next govt needs to have a strong majority. Labour are a party without real policies so I hope that it's a single party govt. Don't see it happening tbh though. It'll be a FG/Lab coalition.

Re: Election 2011
It's going to be a choice between FG and FF. Probably going to end up going for FG, purely because of the sh*te that FF lead us into.
FG less likely to bend over for the public sector unions.
To be honest, it's getting a bit ridiculous that we have two parties who are centrist, and the rest all left of centre.
We have no pro-business party, no party who will serve the middle-income earners.
As Omar has said elsewhere, there is no party that represents the 30% of the country that pay 90% of the taxes..........

A varadker led overall majority fine Gael government is the only option that seems anyway appealing

Re: Election 2011
However
given that I will vote - it needs to be tactical rather than principled
O caolin topped the pollin 07 so should have cake walk this time around
FG will come second and given that FF have three sitting TDS should at worst come third
FG should scrape back the second seat they held back in Andrew Boylans day
so it will be dogfight between FF and SF for a second seat and maybe labour - and in reality this is where my vote is likley to count so asmuch as it pains me Ill vote for Smith with a conlon transfer and then a transfer to second FG candidate
- Its a case of who I don't want which is SF and Labour in that order

Re: Election 2011
Gerry Kilrane who is most likely to carry the Leitrim flag into this contest can be assured of Boxty's first preference.
After that, I'm hoping that Cllr. Rachel Doherty from Cootehall secures the Roscommon nomination and she will get my second preference, which may possibly secure her election, given that Kilrane is unlikely to make it without transfers.
I'll call it SnackBox Naughten, Frankie Feighan (Both Fíne Gael) followed by Doherty (subject to nomination)....
Kenny (SF) and Kelly (Lab.) will make a game fight of it, but while both may poll 4/5k are unlikely to attract sufficient preferences down the counts..
