Can't believe Boxty hasn't started this thread already!

Well we're off and running with a fairly decent match in Cardiff tonight ... except for the result. Wales played like a team on a losing streak and their backs are totally lacking confidence. England have a bit more about them this year - plenty of pace and not just bash wallop. Still, Wales made them look good. Made the mistake of watching on BBC and having to listen to the gobshite that is Brian Moore. At one stage the Ashes were mentioned (batsman in crowd) and he utters couldn't happen to a nicer nation. ********!

Anyway we are missing a few tomorrow but have a bit of depth now and I am looking forward to seeing the Carlow Cannonball rampaging through Rome!

Hoarse cheering with the Tifosi there, wasn't even aware they had a Rugby team, but I'd have been delighted to see them put the D4 heads and the likes back in their place. Jeez, what we had to endure after that game against Wales, distant memory now.

Credit to Italy, it was their best performance against us in the 6 nations by a distance.....It was nothing more than a pipe-opener for us and truth be told we should have had the game wrapped up after 60 minutes, we butchered two tries....Italy's blanker defence is aways going to be tough to breakdown and it wasn't going to be a game to be an outside back.....

Thought they showed excellent composure for to work the drop goal.....But the scrum was under pressure all day and we made far too many handling errors but would expect us to improve given that we have half a dozen or so to come back from injury and the fact that Kidney gave a few out of form players the nod today to see could they find form in Best, O'Connell, O'Callaghan, Leamy & O'Leary, O'Callaghan was the only one of these to perform any way well and wouldn't be surprised to see Leamy and O'Leary dropped for the next day....

O'Callaghan was alright but I'd say he is coughing up and average of 2 pens per game this season. Leo deserves a run. Darcy can't be as bad again - I hope. And the ref was a complete tosser.

Really looking forward to the game on Sunday in what should be the first capacity crowd in the Aviva for an international - so we'll see what the atmosphere can be like.

Scotland gave it a good rattle last week and were undone by stupid turnovers so we need to keep it tight. I thought the Scots did very well driving through the middle - they made huge gains nearly every time and the French tackling here was poor enough. In Heaslip, O'Brien and Wallace we have the players who can make the yards this way and I would certainly be looking to do this a lot on Sunday if I was Kidney.

I answered that question.....Seamus Hickey in 2006....although there are a few players this year in Shane Dowling & Declan Hannon of Limerick and Conor Lehane of Cork who could achieve the same feet this year

However Wales and then Scotland refused to travel to Dublin because bold boys were causing trouble.

Pity is England didn't beat Wales by 106 points last Friday.

Thanks for the strange advice Boxty. Suprisingly I would be a regular to Dublin only never really head out that far unless going to the RDS with the school.
P.S Why would he be canvassing in Dublin for Pat Deering??
