Brolly seems to think that if teams play a sweeper against Derry, then Brennan will just send his extra defender up the field and make the sweeper mark him. He cited a McKenna Cup game against Tyrone. It worked then so what is there to suggest it won't work a second time. The best form of defence......................

The game Brolly is talking about is when Sean Leo McGoldrick pushed up on Conor Gormley and ran the legs off him. Now, that is fair enough in January, but Conor Gormley in the summertime is a different prospect altogether.

If Derry play with 7 forwards against Tyrone/Donegal they will concede goals. McGuckian, McBride, McAlary - those guys are not going to hold O'Neill/Cavanagh/Mulligan/McGuigan or Murphy/McFadden/McBrearty with loads of space to play into.

For all the talk about Derry's attacking last Sunday, what I saw was a staggered full-forward of Bradley, Gilligan & Lynch line with acres of space to play in. They withdrew Muldoon to behind midfield, and Barry McGoldrick to defence. Sean Leo was pushed up a bit, but basically they played with 3 forwards. They won't push 6 or 7 up the field in the final - Brennan isn't as stupid as Brolly.
