The Premier League Empty The Premier League

Post  Loyal2TheRoyal Sat Oct 02, 2010 5:25 pm

Well United look out of the title race today, embarrassed by the minnows of the North-East, Sunderland.

Fergie has lost it as well leaving Berbatov on the bench and starting Macheda and Owen up front. If he's going to drop Berbatov, at least start Hernandez in his place.

Liverpool look to be on the way down to the Championship too. I feel sorry for a decent manager like Hodgson trying to coach such a crowd of wasters, Gerrard aside.

Chelsea struggled as soon as they met a big team last week and I suspect Arsenal will have too much once again tomorrow.

To me, if Arsenal find some consistency, they'll win this Premier League.

Man City have a chance but Adebayor's continued presence on the bench and likely impending departure will cost them as Tevez can't score all the goals on his own. Defensively, the best in the League though.

Arsenal and Tottenham to fight it out, with 'Arry costing Spurs by persisting with Crouch and Keane. How Pavlyuchenko is not the first choice striker at White Hart Lane is beyond me.

How exactly is Hodgeson a decent manager, he is middling at best, flopped when he got the chance to manage a decent side and is doing the same at Liverpool....Christ the EPL seriously gives me ire these days.....Nothing but kick and rush for the majority and Andy Gray and Jamie "literally" Redknapp hyping everything to the gills

United drew away to Sunderland last year too, hardly the end of the world. Fergie's blooding his younger strikers. The League is probably out of reach this year but United should still be playing Champions League next year.

Chelsea will embarrass a Cesc-less Arsenal tomorrow just as they did last year. The result against City was a blip but they should still have enough to win the League.

City will be very hard to beat playing boring Italian style defensive football. Tevez doing well now that he's at a club where he can get a starting place, Milner looks awful, why oh why is Johnson not number one on the team sheet every week? Class act. City may struggle to put away the weaker teams but look to be bound for the top 4 seeing as Hodgson is making a shambles of Liverpool and 'Arry doesn't seem to want in. In fact it would be embarrassing for Mancini if he didn't get a top 2 finish given the money pumped in by Sheik Mansour, time will tell.

The serious bits in there I would agree with.

City are playing Italian sytle, I even watched the game V Juve the other night and it was a breadth of fresh air, teams playing football and not resembling Stoke in the slightest.

But I always liked Italian football.

Milner is a concession to the fact that they actually do play in England, but Johnson is a far superior player. Surprised United didn't try for him, young, gifted and cheap which is what they are after.

Liverpool simply are not very good anymore, United have slipped, noot because of the Sunderland result, they did beat City and draw with Arsenal as well, but that is now 4 draws out of 4 away from home.

Maybe Hughes will be the next manager......

But City should meet expectations and fiish 4th as they may get Dzeko for about 40 million in January.

Once Barotelli, Johnson, Kolarov and co are fit, yes, 4th seems within reach.

Then spend about 500 million to go for the big one............

According to the Fantasy Football stats Pav has played about 60 more minutes this season than Keane.. In the League at any rate.

Big win for City that.. Rub of the green got them through. Johnson plays for half an hour and gets MOTM, needs to be starting. De Jong is a liability, could leave City in a big game down to 10 men.

Liverpool are in complete meltdown. Why didn't Torres just leave after the World Cup? He's turning into a Robinho by the looks of things.

Arsenal prove how soft they are once again..

De Jong? I don't think he has had a card this year, very restrained and professional, although he appears to be targeted by some after the world cup.

Young lad broke his leg yesterday in an innouous tackle. Is it these "blades" which I don't know about.

Milner is a liability, but maybe necessary as he runs, but his control, compared to Yaya, Tevez, Silva et al is awful.

And Johnson should be starting.

yesterdays win was massive as City may struggle to break down teams, very good on the break, but not so good if they have to take the offensive.

It was also massive because we have always had the old "win tomorrow and they are 10th/6th/4th" with Cityn and they never did.

yesterday, to go second, they did win, and tevez and Yaya were somewhat disappointing.

Silva provided some great through balls but alas Milner was on the end of most of them, and his final ball is as bad as bellamy.

say what you like about Petrov, he could play a killer ball into the middle.

Long way to go, but I would be surprised if City are not top 4 as they will be hard to beat, and might get more wins than draws this year.

He's had a few from what I can recall, 2 or 3 but that's not my point. Take a closer look at the challenge Pat because it was far from innocuous, rash and dangerous. He assaulted Alonso in the WC final and made numerous other terrible challenges, should have walked that day.

City's goal spread is surely a worry. What if Tevez gets injured? Great strikers on the bench but none with much game time.

Robinho may be more talented but Torres did a strikers job in his time with Liverpool, something Robinho never did.

Arsenal played some attractive football but were woeful at the back. They always look good but they have about as much chance of winning the League or the Champions League as Blackpool.

Just been reading the paper which says "De Jong LUNGED in". Now I watched the game (in the pub..no SKY for me or the pub as it was in Italian) and honestly thought he was still when he played the ball. the ref thought the same. Now I always condemn the "Lee cattermole" won the ball and carried on right through the man tackles, but honestly at the time it didn't look bad to me, or indeed any of the players. There was little fuss.

The world cup, horrendous, should have gone for the Alonso one, no excuse, no attempt to play the ball, a right dirty ######.

I would not try to defend someone simply because they play for City, I actually like football, the allegiance comes second.

Fixhed!

ps It's quite clear that Torres has absolutely no interest in playing for Liverpool.

I'd disagree there Jayo, United's chances would be slightly better than Arsenal's. They've been more successful in Europe in the past few year's than Arsenal and while the Gunners may play more attractive football they won't grind out results like United will. Especially if Rooney gets back to form. Neither have much of a shot though I'll give you that much..

Without Fergie, given United's panel, West Brom probably would have won.

Fergie has them over performing but how long can he keep it up?

Possibly but as long as the Glaziers remain at the wheel they are strangled in any case
Well short of whats needed to win the CL and even the PL.
Every red cent is needed to cover the interest bill
If Fergie gets the chop it at least gives the glaziers a years grace as the new manager "builds for the future"

Interesting to see what will happen with Rooney - Previous players that managed to cross Taggart are Veron, barthez, Keane, beckham , Stam and Ronaldo seems that forgive and forget is not an emotion he holds dear.

United should have won, Vidic hitting the post and a terrible mistake from VDS gifting WB a goal.. He won't make many of those all year.
If United go on a bad run of form people always say Fergie has lost it etc.. A testament to the high standards Sir Alex has set at United. He will never get the chop, he will leave when he chooses to. Which could be sooner if the Glazers continue to choke the finances..

The outlook for United is good as news is that City might buy them as a feeder club, somewhere the like of Adebayor, Wright Philips, Adam Johnson, Given and Richards maybe get a game as well.
