Rafa Nadal Empty Rafa Nadal

18 months ago I commended the brilliance of Novak Djokovic ( https://globalgaa.forumotion.net/t4268-novak-djokovic ), but it would be remiss to let today pass without commenting on Rafael Nadal.

Today he won his 8th French Open at Roland Garros, a record haul at any individual grand slam tournament. He has won them over the space of 9 years and, knees permitting, no-one would bet against him adding to that tall, especially given that he just turned 27 last week.

I've opined before that elite male tennis players are perhaps the finest all around athletes in world sport, their combination of power, speed, stamina, co-ordination, balance and skill being quite remarkable. It wouldn't be hard to imagine the top players having been successes in a wide variety of other sporting disciplines.

So, well done Rafa, and hopefully his fragile knees give him the chance to win a few more French titles in the future.
