Sad to hear the news of the death of a great,Dr. Jim Brosnan. Son of the legendry Con Jim won All Ireland medals in 1953,1955 and 1959. He was Chairman of the county board for a number of years and he revamped the club competition system to give more games to players. Second member of 1955 team to pass away in the past month. Jim slan. R.I.P.

Re: Kerry GT News
Well the great Seamus Moynihan has decided to hang up his boots. I would say one of the greatest to don the famous jersey. Made his debut a week after his leaving cert in that fateful day v Clare in 1992. Played pwerful football,in even poor Kerry teams of the nineties. Half back line was his preferred position but although outstanding in the full back position was wasted there 2000 to 2002. Recoverd from a very bad back injury to come back again in 2006. Met the man often and always had time for a chat and was interested in others' opinions. Hope to see you in management in the not too distant future Seamus. You owe nobody anything.

Always appeared a good sort.....
In other news, I heard your Minister from Finuge and multi-medallist has now become the author of a book on Kerry football. The thrust of the tome is, I gather, the unifying force the jersey has had on Kerry people, tracing the old War of Independence differences and their solutions.
All proceeds go to clearing a debt of €40k (part of a €2m investment) in a mono-rail between Listowel and Ballybunion. The funny thing is that it's about 10 miles between the two towns and this "rail link" only goes 600 yards.....
The Healy-Raes are only trotting after them North Kerry bucks.....

I agree Box. The story about the civil war/Kerry football has been well documented over the years. Politician local votes etc.

Doesn't he spin a yarn about getting Sam back when it went missing in the US? And I don't think Pickles found it either!!

Well Box I have arrived in the deep south. Saw the great man today in Cahirciveen.Just nodded towards him and he smiled and I knew we are going to have the oldest supersub in history next year if he and Jack resolve their difference. Pity he did not play in juniorfinal tjis year. seriously when Maurice and Fizmaurice were main players in divisional finals this year is a poor reflection of Kerry football. Well we will see maybe the oldest team in history capturing Sam this year.

Kindergarden compared to these warriors
Rumour has it that Manus was due to be called back into the county panel but stasitical analysis of the 92 final showed he spend 45% of the time inside the opposition 65 which clearly rules him out as a no. 15.

Disturbing tales doing the rounds of a former county footballer having bouts of amnesia, particularly at a specific filling station in the South Midlands....Two fills of diesel remained unpaid and when "accosted" attempting the hat-trick (tank filled and paying for sandwich
) blustered and blathered to bate the band......
Not good.....

Dont believe it. Cant see any decent Kerryman entering a petrol station when he normally uses the red diesel.

Re: Kerry GT News
So another has decided to hang up his boots. Tommy Griffin was one of my favourite players over the past 12 years. He was ravaged by injuries but kept coming back and never let us down in midfield or defence. Won 5 All Ireland medals and I reckon would have knocked this year out of it as he says only for the injuries. Enjoy your retirement Tommy, you owe nobody anything and hopefully I will have a pint in your pub(if still open) soon.
