Richelieu in 7.35 is worth a few quid ew at Dundalk. Dont go to mad though been a massive gamble for Pre Tax Profit in same race all day (apparently trainer of it landed a similar huge gamble earlier in the week). But at 12s Richelieu SHOULD be a safe ew.

On a related note, Boxtyeater was in the bookies (Pyramid ,B'more) today, prior to lunch in the Commercail Hotel (Freddy's to JS) to witness a young lad (22/25ish), the son of a known friend, having €1k. cash on a nag .......

Boxty's €20 on Bocerty's wothless tip was next in queue as telephone calls were being made...

Bet taken (Eventually)......Boxty's bet was also taken....

The big punt back-fired...............................A thousand punts on an horse..

The opener in Galway today is the focus of an early morning phone call to Boxty Towers. The footman took the call and related:

"A friend of The Master has left a message that "Too/Two/To Scoops" will win the opener at Ballybrit today."

Based upon the fact that scoops were mentioned and the day is fit for fook all else, I'll probably have a stab at this.....

If its "two" this would suggest a lack of ambition on the part of the owner
If its "Too" it may well be worth consideration

I think St Brigids (Roscommon) are incredible value to win the club final at 5/1 with Powers.
Cross are evens, Crokes are 9/4 and Ballymun are tagged with Bridgids at 5/1.

A Kiltoom/Killarney final beckons. The game needs a final like this, a final bereft of negativity, sledging and rancour.
A chance for the masses to see the use of the footpass exploited, honest endeavour and two of the greatest forwards in the game ie. Cooper and Kilbride go at it with a clear run.

Some will scoff at my appreciation of Kilbride. Granted, he may not appear the most accomplished, but he has feet and vision.

Doesn't say much for Pacquino's jaw, given thay in my hey-day and even, yours we'd have shipped several of those on any given Sunday.

One of my fondest and abiding memories of the late Boxty Mór's removal evening was the attendance of Ballinanmore's Damian Prior, brother of the current landlord (Gay Prior).

Back in about 1968 Fenagh played B'more in the opening round and Damian and I were diametrically opposed. I let the first incursion go, but not the second, whereupon I boxed the head off him...

It was probably all a bit embarrassing for my late father, who worked in B'more at the time, not to mention my late mother who was raised about 40 yds away from Priors, to hear of their son boxing the head off one of the towns "hoi-polloi" while secretly enjoying the occasion....

But fair play where it's due, he opened with "Sorry about Boxty Mór here this evening Boxty, but do you remember the day...."

That's what I got out of it and it'll last me a lifetime, friendship, days and memories......
